10 Things I’ve Done For The Love Of Books #TopTenTuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme where every Tuesday we look at a particular topic for discussion and use various (or more to the point ten) bookish examples to demonstrate that particular topic. Top Ten Tuesday (created and hosted by The Broke and Bookish) is now being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and future week’s topics can be found here.

Outrageous Things I’ve Done For The Love Of Books

I’m not sure if I’ve done “outrageous” things for the love of books…I love to read, but…outrageous? I’m not sure if I’m an outrageous kinda gal.

#10 Skipped Meals

This happened more when I didn’t have children, but there are definitely times when I’m wrapped up in a book, make something to eat for my family, and eat later so I can keep reading. Is that “outrageous”?

#9 Cried in public while reading a book

Yeah…don’t take sad books to read on the plane. You’ll end up crying next to a few strangers and at least one will ask you what’s wrong, and when you say “Oh, it’s just this book is so sad”, they gonna look at you funny – UNLESS they are a fellow book lover, then they’ll get it and you’ll be BFFs for life.

#8 Walked into something while reading

Walking and texting ain’t got nothing on the dangers of reading and walking. I’ve walked into road signs while reading – like fell right down onto my back in front of fellow teenagers who bust out laughing at me. Yeah, that was fun. Now that I’m old and wise I don’t walk + read or walk+text.

#7 Almost dropped my KOBO in the bath – more than once

I’ve learned my lesson with the walking +reading, but I still keep bringing my KOBO in the bath sometimes, which is kinda ridiculous because I’m nervous the entire time, so the whole relaxing bath with the KOBO is counterproductive. What will it take for me to stop doing this?

#6 Started going to bed earlier so I can have more quiet reading time

I love my husband. But sometimes I go to bed earlier than usual just so I can have alone reading time. Is that outrageous? Probably not, and he gets to play vids or watch shows I don’t enjoy when I go to bed early so I’m sure it’s a win-win situation.

#5 Listen to Audio Books while driving kids around

For a long time I thought my kids wouldn’t be quiet enough to listen to an audio book while driving, but I’ve figured out the key is to get a book they are interested in 😉

#4 Smell before you Buy

If a book smells funny, I don’t buy it. Simple as that. LOL

#3 Started this blog!

My love for reading and writing is the reason I started this blog. In the beginning I thought this blog would be a way for me to have the courage to share my writing, even if no one read it. I posted a few short stories, then hit the fear wall. After reading Stephen King’s On Writing I decided I should get back to reading more in order to improve my writing. Here I am, two years and like 200 book reviews later, feeling much more confident in what kind of stories I want to write. I didn’t think anyone would ever visit my blog, but here you are! So big thanks to you for coming to my little online space and reading the words I write. ♥

#2 Talk to Strangers when I see them reading

Hell, who am I kidding? I talk to strangers constantly anyhow, but if I see you reading a book, you better be ready to have a chat with me LOL My kids LOVE it when I talk to strangers. BAHAHA!

#1 Always have a book with me

If you’re reading this, you’re probably a book lover which means you probably bring a book with you everywhere you go. Right? For us, that’s normal! I bring a book to my kid’s swimming lessons, sports games, playground, work to read on break sometimes, while in the car picking kids up from school…I usually read any time I’m waiting.
